The towing capacity for the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 HD depends on the choice of either a gas or diesel engine. The new GMC truck also comes in two different configurations, 4WD Crew Cab Standard or Long Box.
The maximum conventional towing capacity in a new GMC Sierra 2500 HD with a gas engine is 14,500 pounds. If you choose to use either a fifth wheel or gooseneck hitch, the towing capacity increases to 16,620 pounds on standard box configuration and 16,520 on the long box configuration.
In a diesel engine, the maximum towing capacity is 18,500 pounds. Whether you add a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch, the maximum towing capacity remains the same.
The 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 HD is available in five different trim levels. The Standard, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. Depending on the trim, extra trailering and towing features that complement the towing capacity.
